The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, just above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. The code won't show without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the 4th one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the three with gazoline jump out. The 4th one remains closed. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I think the issue is in another location.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car can start when the G28 is not plugged in and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in, but still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows a temperature of -49c. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, but i believe that i've ruled out everything else. But i'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump
